Treatment methods and techniques in orthopaedic sports
1. functional screening
Functional screening is the first step in our Orthosport treatment.
A detailed analysis from the big toe to the shoulder enables us to identify weaknesses and imbalances at an early stage.
The following tests are used:
- Isolation, integration and dynamization
Each joint area is examined in isolation to identify individual weaknesses and then integrated into dynamic movement sequences to maximize functional performance. - Bunkie test
This special test measures isometric strength in five starting positions (lines) that cover different stability and strength lines of the body:- Posterior Power Line
- Anterior Power Line
- Posterior Stabilizing Line
- Lateral Stabilizing Line
- Medial Stabilizing Line
2. rehab training:
In Rehab Training, we focus on functional training that is individually tailored to the patient’s needs.
This involves both general physiotherapeutic measures and specific exercises to strengthen and mobilize the affected areas.
The aim is to improve muscle strength, increase joint mobility and restore the body’s general functionality.
3. functional rehab
This phase focuses on the targeted rehabilitation of specific body regions (e.g. lower extremities, upper extremities, spine).
Using the “OS principle”, patients are systematically divided into four performance levels that reflect their individual progress:
- Level 1: Basic exercises for mobilization and light strengthening.
- Level 2: Advanced exercises to improve stability and strength.
- Level 3: More complex movement patterns and exercises to prepare for sporting activities.
- Level 4: Sport-specific exercises to prepare for the return to competitive sport.
4. return to sport
The final step is the return to sport.
After an injury or operation, it is important that the return to sporting activities is gradual and safe.
Our Return to Sport program takes into account the specific requirements and stresses of your sport and aims to prepare you optimally for your return to training and competition.
